The mission of Recreation & Restoration is to honor and support our local veterans by creating a community-driven outreach center built on compassion, collaboration, and service. We are committed to listening to the voices of veterans, caregivers, and families to ensure their needs are at the heart of our programs. By working in partnership with VFW posts, mental health providers, schools, recreational programs, and other community organizations, we strive to deliver services that are both comprehensive and accessible. Our vision extends beyond providing benefits assistance; we also focus on fostering pride through community beautification efforts and strengthening bonds between veterans and their neighbors. Through targeted outreach, we aim to reach underserved groups, particularly aging and Vietnam-era veterans, to connect them with resources and recognition they have long deserved. Transparent communication through newsletters, forums, and social media ensures that the community remains engaged and informed at every step. We actively invite residents to take part in our mission through volunteering, mentorship, and hands-on support, reinforcing that this is a shared effort for the common good. Above all, Recreation & Restoration is dedicated to uplifting veterans, honoring their service, and building a stronger, more inclusive community that recognizes both their sacrifices and their continued contributions.
I am honored to share that R&R has been accepted into the prestigious America’s VetDogs Service Dog Program—a nationally recognized and highly selective organization dedicated to empowering veterans. After a rigorous application and review process, we will soon be traveling to New York for two weeks of intensive training where we’ll be partnered with a specially trained PTSD service dog. This incredible opportunity is more than just receiving a dog—it’s about gaining a trusted companion that will provide independence, stability, and support in everyday life. we’ll be documenting the journey through training and partnership with AVD here at rnrvets.org. I invite you to follow along as we begin this life-changing chapter.
We love our Veterans, so feel free to visit during normal business hours.
